Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. With the $0 deductible option selected, it meets and exceeds the EU requirement of a minimum €30,000 (≈ $50,000) in medical coverage, validity across all 29 Schengen countries, and emergency medical, hospitalization, and repatriation coverage for your full stay — with an instant visa letter emailed after purchase.

Your insurance certificate is emailed to you the moment your transaction is confirmed — there's no processing delay or waiting period. Most applicants have their letter within 10-15 minutes of purchase.

EuropeTravelPlus pays 100% of eligible medical expenses after your deductible, up to your chosen maximum. Deductible options are $0, $50, or $100 — select $0 for a Schengen visa application. You choose from five maximums at purchase: $50,000, $100,000, $500,000, $1,000,000, or $2,000,000. The $50,000 tier already exceeds the Schengen minimum; higher maximums are available up to age 69.

All 29 Schengen countries plus select other European countries. One certificate covers your whole itinerary. The plan is not available for travel to Belarus, Russia, or Ukraine, and includes incidental US coverage up to 14 days while in transit to or from Europe.

Yes. Medical treatment for COVID-19 is covered if the illness is contracted after your policy effective date. Physician-ordered COVID-19 testing is also covered. Vaccinations, boosters, and quarantine costs are not covered.

It means a sudden, unexpected flare-up of a condition you already have that requires emergency treatment while traveling. EuropeTravelPlus covers acute onset episodes up to $35,000. Ongoing, planned management of a chronic condition is not covered.

Yes — coverage is available to anyone eligible who has legally departed their country of residence and is in transit to Europe, US and non-US residents alike. No US address is required (the plan is not available to applicants with Maryland addresses). US citizens don't need a Schengen visa for stays up to 90 days and insurance isn't legally required for those short trips, but it's strongly recommended because US health plans and Medicare generally don't cover you abroad. A long-stay national visa does require compliant insurance and a visa letter.

Travelers from 14 days to 99 years are eligible. Higher coverage maximums are available up to age 69; travelers aged 70 and over are eligible for the $50,000 tier. Plans are available for trips from 5 days up to 12 months, extendable up to 365 days total.

Yes. EuropeTravelPlus can be purchased after arrival at your destination, and coverage for new, unexpected sickness or injury begins once the policy is effective.

Yes. You can cancel before your coverage start date for a full refund. After coverage begins there is a 3-day review period for a full refund if no claim has been filed. After that, cancellations require a $10 fee and only full-month premiums are refundable, provided no claims were filed. Confirm the current terms in your plan documents.
